JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono apologized for the increased traffic jams due to the waterway and cable excavation project in the Kuningan area. "Of course we are on behalf of the DKI Provincial Government, while we apologize for the traffic disturbance. But, if we don't do this, when will we do it again? Once again, for the sake of Jakarta in the future, we will also accelerate it," Heru told reporters, Friday, July 12. Heru asked the public to understand that the excavation work which resulted in the narrowing of the road was carried out to support the improvement of public services, especially the provision of clean water. Bearing in mind, the DKI Provincial Government is targeting PAM Jaya BUMD to increase the coverage of clean water services to be fully available by 100 percent by 2030. "If we don't do it now, the clean water crisis will take us down. So, the target of the DKI Regional Government must be completed in 2030-2035. All clean water supply to the community must be achieved. Indeed, there is a risk, the risk is where to dig and where to block," explained Heru. If later the water channel work has been completed, he continued, then the community can feel the benefits. In addition, the community also no longer needs to use groundwater which can result in land subsidence in Jakarta. "If this has flowed less water flowing, the needs for the community have been achieved. So, the series is that we can reduce the decline in water and land surface, which currently occurs several centimeters per year," explained Heru.

Currently, there is work on digging waterways and optical cables on Jalan HR Rasuna Said, South Jakarta. As a result, long traffic jams occur from Jalan Mampang Prapatan Raya towards yellow, especially during peak hours.
