JAKARTA - Iran's elected President Masoud Pezeshkian will be sworn in and sworn in later this month, ahead of previous estimates, with a number of foreign invited guests said they would attend.

Iranian Parliamentary-led board member Mojtaba Yousefi said on Wednesday the inauguration was scheduled to be held on July 30.

"Together with senior Iranian officials who will attend the ceremony, several foreign guests from various countries around the world will participate in the important event," he told IRNA, as quoted July 12.

He explained that the parliamentary law stipulates that the new president should submit his plans and introduce his ministers within two weeks of inauguration, quoted by the Tasnim News Agency.

"The MPs will then discuss the ministerial credentials proposed over the week, before holding the final session regarding the motion of distrust," he said.

Last week, Yousefi said Pezeshkian would be sworn in as President of Iran on August 4 or 5.

Based on the plan, the inauguration will be held after Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei officially gives approval to the president.

After the death of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash on May 19, Pezeshkian became one of the six final candidates selected by the Constitutional Council out of 80 people running for president.

Pezeshkian was elected ninth president of Iran after the vote count in the presidential election on July 5. Pezeshkian, a heart surgeon, won 16,384,403 votes, while his rival Saeed Jalili was behind him with 13,538,179 votes.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei congratulated Pezeshkian's victory, urging him to "continue the footsteps of the late President Ebrahim Raisi's martyrs and use the various capacities of the country, especially revolutionary and confident youths, for the convenience of the people and the progress of the country".
