Bali's Ngurah Rai Airport Serves 11 Million Passengers In The First Semester Of 2024

BADUNG - Passengers at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, in the first half of 2024, increased when compared to the same period in 2023.

General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Handy Heryudhitiawan said the number of passengers served from January to June 2024 was 11,259,019 passengers.

"There was an increase in passengers by 16 percent in the first half of 2024 compared to the first semester of 2023 which served 9,743,788 passengers," he said, Wednesday, July 10.

Handy assessed that the increase in passengers shows that the image of the Island of the Gods as a world tourism destination is still relevant.

The addition of airline services and routes also shows an increase in activity to and from Bali, where in the first semester of 2024 there will be at least three additional international routes and two from domestic routes.

The addition of domestic routes at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport is the Bandar Lampung route by the Asian airline and the Sumbawa flight route with Wings Air, said Handy.

The addition of international routes is a direct route to and from Bengaluru by the Indigo airline, the Canberra route with Batik Air airline, and the Abu Dhabi route with the airline Etihad Airways.

In fact, in the first six months, the airport, which is located in South Bali, has arrived by Etihad Airways, Juneyao Airlines, and Indigo for the first time.

Handy reported that throughout the first semester of 2024 the busiest domestic route was Jakarta (CGK) with services to 2,304,112 passengers and 14,488 aircraft movements.

Followed by Surabaya with 705,105 passengers and 4,428 aircraft movements, and Makassar with 256,042 passengers and 1,829 aircraft movements.

For international routes, they serve many Singapore routes with 1,337,548 passengers and 6,549 aircraft movements, Kuala Lumpur with services of 861,749 passengers and 5,277 aircraft movements, and Perth 494,757 passengers and 3,292 aircraft movements.

Handy saw the trend of increasing passengers at Bali airport did not stop until the first half of 2024, because he had recorded a number of additional requests for routes for the second half.
