India Fires 6 Police Related To The Uttar Pradesh Tragedy That Killed 121 People

JAKARTA - Indian authorities have dismissed six police and government officials over the tragedy of urging religious event participants to be trampled on who killed 121 people last week in Uttar Pradesh. They were deemed negligent in handling the event featuring the Hindu soldier.

The initial findings of the panel investigating the tragedy stated that the event organizers did not meet the requirements set for the meeting.

"The organizers obtained permission for the event by hiding the facts," the Uttar Pradesh state government said.

"They did not make adequate and smooth arrangements despite inviting an unexpected crowd of people, and they also did not comply with the requirements set by the local government," he added.

In response, AP Singh, the lawyer for the fire, denied any wrongdoing by the organizers.

He emphasized that his party did not hide anything from the authorities, and instead said the raid was part of a conspiracy "anti-social element" that he had not identified.

Police arrested nine people involved in organizing the event, Singh said.

The government said the panel did not rule out the possibility of a major conspiracy behind the accident, but needed further investigation.

A senior district official in Hathras, the scene, gave permission for the event without checking the place.

Local government officials and police did not take the incident seriously and did not inform senior officials of this matter, the government said in a statement.

"They are considered responsible for negligence in carrying out their duties," he added.

The tragedy of a religious event in Uttar Pradesh occurred when the people ran after the sickle's car, crammed into each other until they were trampled on to ask for blessings and see it closer.
