Director General Of Immigration: Indonesia Cannot Be A Criminal Escape Destination

JAKARTA - Director General (Dirjen) of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Silmy Karim said that his party is committed to early detection so that Indonesia is not used as a destination or place for the perpetrators of crimes or a wanted list (DPO) from other countries.

"Indonesia should not be an escape destination for international criminals and the place where cyber crime operates," Silmy said, quoting Antara.

Silmy made this statement as an emphasis after the Directorate General (Ditjen) of Immigration deported and included 13 foreign nationals (WNA) from Taiwan who were perpetrators of serious crimes in their place of origin.

The crimes committed by the 13 people are fraud, money laundering, narcotics, and carrying out attacks in Taiwan. A total of 11 of them have their passports revoked.

The 13 Taiwanese foreigners were deported through Soekarno-Hatta International Airport with China Airlines CI 762 departing for Taoyuan International Airport, Taiwan on Thursday (4/7) at 14:40 WIB.

After an in-depth examination by immigration officers, the thirteen foreigners turned out to be perpetrators of serious crimes in Taiwan. They will undergo a pro-justitia process in Taiwan," explained Silmy.

He added that the Directorate General of Immigration handed over a number of pieces of evidence to the government of origin of the perpetrators of the crime. In addition, the Taiwanese police also carried out strict escorts for the return of the 13 people.

"In addition to deportation, we also put them on the penalty list so they can't return to Indonesia and of course the legal process in Taiwan is waiting for these 13 people," said Silmy.
