PDIP Prepares Andika Perkasa To Advance Central Java Gubernatorial Election, Gerindra: We Are Ready To Compete

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Gerindra Party, Habiburokhman, responded to the PDIP who prepared the name of former TNI Commander General (Ret.) Andika Perkasa to advance in the Central Java gubernatorial election.

Habiburokhman emphasized that his party is ready to compete with any political party in the 2024 Central Java Pilkada contestation.

"I don't think we can comment on other candidates, yes. We are ready to compete with any candidate," said Habiburokhman, Friday, July 5. It is known that the political parties who are members of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) are rumored to be carrying the Central Java Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Ahmad Lutfi. However, Habiburokhman has not confirmed whether Gerindra will carry the same figure or otherwise. According to him, Gerindra is still reviewing the figure to be nominated as a candidate for governor of Central Java. "If people like me later, Pak Andika will be willing, to Central Java," said Utut at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 3. Utut assessed that Andika Perkasa was the most fitting to lead Central Java. According to him, General AM Hendropriyono's son-in-law can provide a sense of security for the people of Central Java.

"Well, if people like me because over there (KIM, red) the Kapolda has advanced, of course, Sir, Mr. Luthfi. Now, if Mr. Andika wants to come forward, at least it gives a sense of security among cadres throughout Central Java," said Utut.

"But in a positive contest, you know, it's not a bang to the institution. Because it has entered the civilian realm, if it is already in the civil realm, this is contestation," he concluded.
