TANGERANG - Soekarno Hatta Airport Customs and Excise has arrested a Bollywood film producer who smuggled two protected animals that will be brought to India. The perpetrator, who was arrested with the initials RM, claimed to be the actor and producer of the Bollywood film, India.

"This RM actor claims to be an actor and film producer. He also admitted that he came to Indonesia for a vacation," said Head of Customs and Excise at Soetta Airport, Gatot Sugeng Wibowo at Soekarno Hatta Airport, Tangerang City, Thursday, July 4.

He explained that the chronology of the failure of this smuggling action began on Monday, July 1, then related to suspicions about the results of X-Ray, a foreign passenger suitcase (WNA) with the trunk of an Indigo Air flight number (6E 1602) to Mumbai India.

Furthermore, on this suspicion, officers took action against the suitcase and summoned passengers who were already in the Boarding Room to be examined for their luggage.

"The rare animal is hidden in a suitcase disguised with various kinds of food, clothes, handbags, and children's toys (false Concealment). And the animals carried by the perpetrators are included in the Appendix I and II Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) which require special permission for transportation," he said.

Gatot explained that the goods and suitcases he was carrying were entrusted to an acquaintance who was also an Indian foreigner at Terminal 2 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport to be given to someone.

In addition to arresting the perpetrators, his party obtained evidence of three rare animals, namely two Cendrawasih birds and one Berang-berang.

For his actions, RM was named a suspect in Article 102A of Law Number 17 of 2006 concerning Amendments to Law Number 10 of 1995 concerning Customs with a maximum penalty of 10 years and a maximum fine of IDR 5 billion.
