JAKARTA - Head of the KPK's Coordination and Supervision (Korsup) Task Force Region V Dian Patria said that an unhealthy bureaucracy and strong-rooted nepotism are serious obstacles in optimizing regional income so that it can trigger corruption.

This finding, said Dian, should be a harsh slap in the bureaucratic system in Papua. The reason is, nepotism and the lack of competence of ASN is able to open up gaps for fraudulent behavior that results in state financial losses and hinders regional development.

KPK data shows that the Sorong City Integrity Assessment Survey (SPI) is in the vulnerable category, with a score of 58.20 points (national average value of 70.97 points). In fact, the Monitoring Center for Prevention (MCP) score in the same year, was in the yellow zone with an achievement of 39.76 points from a scale of 0-100.

This condition is exacerbated by the presence of systems that are left behind to inadequate internet networks. When assisting local governments to the One Stop Integrated Service (PTSP) of Sorong City, the KPK Korsup team found that the application system used for paying taxes and levies (Sibet Cloud), could not be accessed as a result of the hacked PDN data. So that all taxpayer payments are hampered.

Whereas previously, the KPK had provided local government assistance with taxpayers who were in arrears to encourage the acceleration of tax payments.

"As a result, when the application cannot be accessed, the billing number does not come out, the taxpayer cannot pay. There is no mitigation, so it can be calculated how much potential loss, there must also be potential for corruption there, especially if the payment is made in cash during the error system," explained Dian., continue to provide assistance by implementing offensive prevention, thus causing a deterrent effect for perpetrators of corruption," he said.

Sorong City Inspector Ruddy L. Then, also appreciated the performance of the KPK team which had had a positive impact on the region. One of the impacts is the acceleration of payment of tax arrears and levies that have stalled since 2018.

Over the past three days, the KPK and the Regional Government have met 11 taxpayers (WP) who are in arrears with arrears of Rp. 5 billion.

His party is also committed to improving the tax and levy system for business actors in Sorong City, as well as looking for options so that taxpayers can still pay taxes and levies even though the system is often constrained.
