Bringing In 6,000 Hoax Foreign Doctors, Ministry Of Health Feels Defamed By The Dismissal Of Dean Unair

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), Mohammad Syahril, called the intervention of Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin in the process of dismissing the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga, Prof. Budi Santoso, as slander. The Ministry of Health also ensures that the arrival of 6,000 foreign doctors is fake news or hoaxes.

The news related to the intervention was linked to the personal attitude of Prof. Budi Santoso, who previously rejected the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) program to bring foreign doctors to Indonesia.

"Information that said the Minister of Health contacted the Unair Chancellor to ask to dismiss the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine is slander and hoax," Mohammad Syahril was confirmed as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, July 4.

He said the Ministry of Health did not oversee Unair and did not have the authority to regulate Unair. "Information circulating as if the Ministry of Health will bring in 6,000 doctors from foreign countries as well as hoaxes," he said.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin in his statement admitted that he was surprised by the incident of the dismissal of Prof. Budi Santoso which was linked to the intervention of the Ministry of Health.

"My son, how come it is related to the Ministry of Health. Unair is not under the Ministry of Health, there is no authority for me here, I also have no contact with Unair regarding this matter," he said via text message.

Meanwhile, Unair, through a statement from the Head of the Center for Communication and Public Information (PKIP), Martha Kurnia Kusumawardani, said that the reason for Unair's leadership regarding the dismissal of Prof Budi Santoso was an internal policy to implement better governance in order to strengthen institutions, especially in the FK Unair environment.
