Chairman of the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari thanked the Honorary Council of Election Organizers (DKPP) of the Republic of Indonesia for imposing permanent dismissal sanctions on him related to cases of alleged immorality. "On this occasion I would like to convey, I would like to say thank God and I would like to thank the DKPP for exempting me from heavy tasks as a member of the KPU who held the election," said Hasyim at a press conference at the KPU RI Office, Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, July 3. He also apologized to the media crew if during his tenure as Chairman of the Indonesian KPU there were words or actions that were not pleasing. "To journalists who have been interacting with me, if there are words or actions that I do not like, I apologize," he said. As for today, Wednesday, the Honorary Council of Election Organizers (DKPP) of the Republic of Indonesia has imposed permanent dismissal sanctions for the Chairman of the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari regarding cases of alleged immorality. "Imposing a permanent dismissal sanction to the defendant Hasyim Asy'ari as chairman and concurrently member of the Indonesian General Elections Commission, this decision is read out," said Chairman of the Indonesian DKPP Heddy Lugito in a hearing to read the verdict at the DKPP RI Office, Jakarta, Wednesday. In addition, the DKPP RI granted the complainant's total complaint, and asked the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo to replace Hasyim within 7 days of the reading of the verdict. "The president of the Republic of Indonesia to carry out this decision no later than seven days after the verdict is read," he said. Finally, the Indonesian DKPP asked the Indonesian General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) to oversee the implementation of the decision. The trial for Case Number 90-PKE-DKPP/V/2024 was started at 14:10 WIB, and opened by the Chairman of the Indonesian DKPP Heddy Lugito. Hasyim was present online at the trial through the Zoom teleconference application. "I hereby declare that it is open, and open to the public," said Heddy, opening the trial. Previously, on Thursday, April 18, 2024, the Chairman of the Indonesian KPU Hasyim Asy'ari was reported to the DKPP RI by the Legal Aid Consultation Institute and the Choice of Completion of Disputes at the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia (LKBH-PPS FH UI) and the Legal Aid Institute of the Indonesian Women's Association for Justice (LBH APIK). The victim's attorney explained that the actions of the Chairman of the Indonesian KPU, Hasyim Asy'ari, as a defendant, were included in the violation of the code of ethics based on DKPP Regulation Number 2 of 2017 concerning the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct for General Election Organizers. According to the victim's attorney, the chairman of the Indonesian KPU, Hasyim Asy'ari, as a defendant, prioritized his personal interests to satisfy his sexual desire for the victim.

Hasyim underwent his first trial on Wednesday (22.5) which ended at around 17.15 WIB. He was also present at the second or last trial on Thursday (6/6) which was completed at 12.45 WIB.
