JAKARTA - The DKI Provincial Government through the DKI Jakarta Culture Service is collaborating with the Dutch Royal Embassy for Indonesia, Timor-Leste, ASEAN, the Dutch Cultural Heritage Agency (RCE), and the Reinwardt Academy for museum knowledge exchange programs.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Culture Office, Iwan Henry Wardhana, said that this program aims to provide a new perspective for museum public programs, especially with families as an educational basis.

"This program allows the exchange of ideas and experiences to strengthen the museum sector that can be implemented in Jakarta," Iwan said in his statement, Tuesday, July 2.

He continued, this activity also facilitates exchanges between colleagues to overcome current challenges through creative workshops, as well as shape a modern image for museums in Jakarta to attract visitors and identify potential cooperation between museums in the Netherlands and Jakarta.

This multi-year collaboration has taken place from October 2023 to October 2024 involving major partners from the Netherlands and Indonesian institutions. There are three training sessions during programs that focus on museum strategic management, museum programs for families, and museum collection assessments.

In the first session, as many as thirty participants out of nineteen museums, cultural units, and galleries formulated museum management strategies using business model canvases. The session emphasizes the importance of setting clear vision and mission, aligning staff roles, and integrating contemporary marketing strategies.

"For the second session in July, we discussed cross-generational learning, family programs, and effective content delivery in the context of museums. Participants will design family-oriented exhibitions and programs, with the aim of turning museums into attractive spaces for families," explained Iwan.

The third training session is scheduled for October 2024 which discusses the assessment of museum collections. Experts from RCE will guide participants on collection priorities, integrate public opinion, and take advantage of objects for live education programs.
