JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) through the Jabodetabek Transportation Management Agency (BPTJ) conducted a trial of the Biskita Trans Depok mass transportation service, to improve connectivity in the area.

BPTJ Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, Dedy Cahyadi, said the trial was carried out to ensure the fleet that would operate, IT devices, bus stops/stops, routes, drivers and social impacts that might arise. "We will carry out route tests for fleets that are ready as an initial step to inform the public," said Dedy as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 1.

The Ministry of Transportation through the Jabodetabek Transportation Management Agency has started a trial of the buy the service (BTS) service in Depok City, before being inaugurated by the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi.

The trial began with socialization at the Depok Mayor's Office which aims to introduce Biskita fleet to regional officials in Depok City in regular morning apples.

Dedy said that the results of the trial will be used as evaluation material for BPTJ to make improvements before the Minister of Transportation will specifically launch the operation.

The trial was also carried out by operating Biskita Trans Depok in 1 corridor that had been determined, namely Margonda Terminal-LRT Harjamukti.

"We hope that this trial can also be used as a medium to disseminate information to the people of Depok City. By paving Biskita, it is hoped that the public can see firsthand and get to know more closely," said Dedy.

Depok Mayor Muhammad Idris expressed his gratitude to the BPTJ of the Ministry of Transportation for providing subsidies to improve mass transportation services with the BTS scheme in Depok City.

"This service will later change the paradigm of the people of Depok City to be more orderly, because it must go up and down in a predetermined place. We hope that later people can take advantage of and maintain what the central government has given," said Idris.

Separately, the Head of the Depok City Transportation Service, Zamrowi, said that within the next two weeks he would immediately socialize Biskita together with BPTJ.

"We have explored with activists and influencers and communities in Depok City to later echo the presence of BISKITA Trans Depok," said Zamrowi.

Zamrowi explained that Biskita is an acronym for Innovative Buses, Immigration and Reliable Urban Transportation Solutions.

Depok City is the third city after Bogor City which has received BTS in 2021 and Bekasi City in 2023.

"It is hoped that the presence of Biskita can modernize public transportation, reduce private vehicles and reduce pollution in Jabodetabek," said Zamrowi.
