JAKARTA - The Central Executive Board of the United Development Party (PPP) submitted a recommendation for the 2024 Surabaya regional head election (Pilkada) to the incumbent pair Mayor and Deputy Mayor Eri Cahyadi-Armuji.The submission of recommendations for the 2024 Surabaya Pilkada for Eri-Armuji was confirmed by the Acting (Plt) Chairman of the Surabaya City PPP Branch Leadership Council (DPC) Muhaimin to Antara in Surabaya, Saturday 29 June. "Recommendations for Mr. Eri Cahyadi and Mr. Armuji from PPP have been submitted to the DPP office on Jalan Diponegoro, Jakarta, Friday, June 28, 2024," said Muhaimin, as reported by Antara.
Recommendations for Eri-Armuji are contained in a letter numbered 2754/IN/DPP/VI/2024 issued on Thursday (27/6) and signed by Acting General Chairperson of PPP Muhamad Mardiono and Secretary General Arwani Thomfi.
Muhaimin explained that the issuance of the recommendation was based on PPP's assessment of Eri-Armuji's performance while leading the city of Surabaya in his first term.
Furthermore, the incumbent pair was able to bring prosperity to local residents through various work programs, such as economic empowerment, improving health services, and equitable access to education. "The work program is also in accordance with the vision and mission of PPP, which is to provide the best service for the community," he said.
The Surabaya City PPP DPC has also prepared to carry out internal consolidation, including involving administrators at the grassroots level to discuss the winning steps of Eri-Armuji in the 2024 Pilkada together.
"This means that PPP Surabaya in this year's election gets three seats and this adds to the enthusiasm of the management's friends to jump down," said Muhaimin.
Muhaimin stated that communication with other political parties in the city of Surabaya is ready to be done in the next few years, especially meeting the PDI-P as the party that carries Eri-Armuji in the 2020 Pilkada.
