SOE Minister Appreciates PLN's Quick Action To Present Clean Energy At IKN

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir appreciated PLN's fast movement in presenting clean energy supplies in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN).

"There are so many parties who are pessimistic when they see the development of IKN. But also more pessimistic when we talk, that this will also be channeled from solar power electricity. Today it is proven, this PLTS has finished, it has produced 10 megawatts, with the need for IKN now only 1 megawatt," said SOE Minister Erick Thohir.

Erick also expressed his appreciation to PLN for presenting green energy at IKN through PLTS IKN.

"Of course I would like to thank PLN for continuing to be committed that Indonesia can actually implement green electricity," said Erick Thohir while reviewing the IKN solar power plant (PLTS) with Deputy Minister of BUMN Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, Secretary of the Ministry of SOEs Rabin Indrajad Hattari and President Director of PLN Darmawan Prasodjo at IKN, Saturday, June 29.

Erick assessed that the need for electricity in IKN in the future will be even greater. For this reason, he asked PLN to continue to develop the provision of clean energy.

"Today, the PLTS capacity is still sufficient, but in the future, the needs here will be even greater. PLN must take advantage of the potential for green energy in Kalimantan, there is hydro, solar, and wind. PLN must be able to develop it. The role of PLN here is very large because it will be the heart of IKN," said Erick.

The same thing was conveyed by the Deputy Minister of SOEs Kartika Wirjoatmodjo. He expressed his appreciation to PLN for building a green energy ecosystem in IKN.

"We are very proud of the success of PLN in being able to build and operate PLTS in IKN. The Minister (Erick Thohir) and I ensure that this capacity can continue to be improved, to serve the entire IKN ecosystem," said Kartika.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo ensured that PLN was ready to go all out to carry out the direction of the Minister of SOEs to present reliable environmentally friendly electricity at IKN. Where everything will be based on state of the art of technology with the concept of green, smart and beautiful.

"We thank the Minister of SOEs, Mr. Erick Thohir, who continues to provide guidance to us in building the IKN ecosystem. We are ready to exert strength to ensure that IKN becomes a green and futuristic city," said Darmawan.

He added, to support the IKN area, PLN will build green and smart electricity. All generators that electrify IKN come from environmentally friendly energy and their electricity business processes will be based on advanced digital.

Currently, PLTS IKN has been built by PLN Nusantara Power in collaboration with Sembcorp, a company from Singapore. Of the total 50 megawatts that will be completed by the end of 2024, currently operating at 10 megawatts. We will also continue to take advantage of the hydro potential in Kalimantan to increase the supply of green electricity here," added Darmawan.

He also explained that the entire electricity network in IKN will be built underground so that it is more reliable and beautiful.

"We built smart transmission, smart distribution, up to smart meters to each customer. With 100% electricity from EBT, the entire electricity system will operate on the smart grid," said Darmawan.

PLN through the PLN Icon Plus subholding has also prepared a telecommunication network to support digitization and data centers to be built at IKN.

PLN jointly builds fiber optic infrastructure for telecommunications in IKN. So below there is MUT (Multi Utility Tunnel) where fiber optic infrastructure is built firmly, because this is an integral part that is inseparable from electricity infrastructure," said Darmawan.
