JAKARTA - The chairman of the National Health Insurance Council (DJSN), Tubagus Achmad Choesni, confirmed that the premium for BPJS Kesehatan (Social Security Provider) class 3 participants will not increase in 2021.

"To consider the relaxation of PBPU (Participants who do not receive Wages) and Class 3 BP (non-workers), we have coordinated. The government will still refer to the current regulations, so as stated in the Presidential Decree", Tubagus said in meeting with Commission IX DPR RI, Wednesday 17 March.

In the slide presented, it is written that the BPJS Kesehatan contributions that must be paid by the 3rd-grade participants are still IDR 25,500 per month.

This decision has been discussed with the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Health, and the BPJS Kesehatan.

"This decision is a follow-up to the RDP which was held on November 24, 2020", he said.

Previously, the fees charged for BPJS Kesehatan participants experienced an adjustment for 2021, in particular in the form of reduced government subsidies for 3rd-grade participants.

Deputy of the Board of Directors for BPJS Kesehatan Contribution Management, Ni Made Ayu Sri Ratna Sudewi explained, the number of dues for 2021 refers to Presidential Decree Number 64 of 2020 concerning National Health Insurance. Ratna stated that the amount of tuition for grade 3 is still the same as in 2020, which is IDR 42,000 per month.

However, the amount that must be paid by participants has increased, from IDR 25,500 this year to IDR 35,000. The number of subsidies from the government was reduced from IDR 16,500 to IDR 7,000.

"Class 3 participants still receive tuition assistance from the government. How about in 2021, with a contribution of IDR 42,000, participants pay IDR 35,000 and the government pays IDR 7,000", said Ratna in the BPJS Kesehatan virtual conference, Tuesday, December 22, 2020.
