Trapped In Fire, Bengkulu City Residents Burned To Death

BENGKULU - The Bengkulu City Fire Department (Damkar) said the fire that occurred in Hybrid 13, Sewide District, Benkulu City on Thursday, June 27, caused the occupants of the house, namely Sujianti, to die. Head of the Bengkulu City Fire Department Yuliansyah said that after receiving information, his party immediately extinguished the fire at the scene. "After successfully extinguishing the fire, we immediately searched for victims who were trapped in the house when the fire devoured the victim's house. Approximately an hour later we struggled to extinguish the fire and managed to find the victim in a damped stall dead," said Yuliansyah, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 27. Sujianti's victim was found dead with 95 percent burns on his body and was immediately taken to the hospital.

Apart from Sujianti, he continued, the victim's son also suffered severe burns and is currently at M Yunus Hospital Bengkulu City for treatment. The cause of the fire was not sure because at the time of the incident the occupants were still asleep and as a result of the incident scorched a house, as well as a candied stall. Yuliansyah said that his party had deployed 10 posts and 13 fleets in the process of extinguishing the fire and assisted by members of the TNI, police, and local communities.

His party continues to appeal to all the people of Bengkulu City to ensure that their houses are safe while traveling. Furthermore, ensure that all electrical plugs are released, the stove is dead and the regulator's hose has also been removed, and does not leave objects that have the potential to burn or explode inside the house, such as firecrackers, fireworks, gas lighters and others.
