SYL Hands Over IDR 1.3 Billion To Firli Bahuri, Polda Metro: Twice At Two Crime Scenes

Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL admitted that there was a handover of money to the former Chairman of the KPK, Firli Bahuri, amounting to Rp1.3 billion. Polda Metro Jaya said the handover of the money took place in two locations.

"It was handed over in 2 handovers at 2 crime scenes," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak to reporters, Thursday, June 27.

It was not conveyed in detail about the two locations where SYL handed over the money to Firli Bahuri.

Namub, when referring to the facts of the trial of the alleged extortion and acceptance of gratuities that made SYL a defendant, one of the handovers of money was made at Gor Badminto in the Central Jakarta area.

At that time, SYL through his aide handed over Rp500 million. Firli, who was also through his aide, received the gift.

Firli Bahuri through his attorney, Ian Iskandar, had originally denied SYL's testimony regarding the gift. In fact, calling the former Minister of Agriculture a lie.

Responding to the rebuttal, Ade said the investigative team already had four pieces of evidence regarding this matter.

"What is clear is that at least 2 pieces of evidence, in this case 4 pieces of evidence in handling the a quo case have been obtained by Corruption Investigators at the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya," said Ade.

Thus, the rebuttal is not a significant problem. Moreover, it is also the right of the suspect in handling criminal cases.

"I think to refute the information denied by the FB is the suspect's right. The suspect's right to deny all witness statements will not be a problem," said Ade.

Firli Bahuri was named a suspect based on the results of the case title conducted on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.

Several pieces of evidence that became the basis for determining the suspect, namely, foreign exchange documents worth Rp7.4 billion. There are also the results of the extraction of 21 cellphones.

However, Firli Bahuri has not yet been detained. Although, he is already a suspect.

In this case, Firli Bahuri was charged with Article 12 e or Article 12 B or Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code.
