President Jokowi: Many HMI Cadres In The Advanced Indonesian Cabinet

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo said that there are many cadres of the Islamic Student Association (HMI) who sit in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet. He conveyed this when he opened the XXXI HMI Congress in 2021 virtually.

He said that this association often gave birth to community leaders and national leaders with various scientific backgrounds and expertise in various fields, including in the field of government.

"In the advanced Indonesian cabinet, there are many HMI cadres. I mentioned Mr. Menkopolhukam Mahfud MD, Professor Muhajir Menko PMK, Mr. Zainudin Amali Menpora, Mr. Suharso Monoarfa Minister of Bappenas, Mr. Sofyan Djalil Minister of ATR, Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo and Pak Bahlil. lahadalia, all HMIs, maybe there are things I don't mention but these are, not many but too many, "Jokowi said in his remarks broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat YouTube account, Wednesday, March 17.

Even though it has succeeded in producing many figures, HMI must be ready and not fixated on the past. Given, continued President Jokowi, the challenges faced by society in the future are getting bigger. Especially with the era of disruption in which change happened so fast.

So that all parties must continue to hone their adaptability and swiftly make decisions in the midst of rapid change.

"We must continue to hone adaptive sensitivity to change and be agile towards change, swift in making decisions and fast, and smart in acting," he said.

The former governor of DKI Jakarta also advised that HMI should be able to realize the ideals of the nation's founders to harmonize Islam and Indonesianism through the spirit of reform.

"Therefore, I advise HMI to grow with the times. It must be adaptive to newness, be responsive to new realities and adapt to the swift currents of disruption and change," he said.

Jokowi also asked HMI cadres to continue to collaborate with various important national development agendas.

"This includes endeavoring to overcome the pandemic and its effects, as well as helping people who are in trouble, arousing optimism, raising hope, so that our nation will soon recover and rise from the pandemic," he said.

In addition, Jokowi also asked HMI to be ready to be a pioneer in the nation's progress. "I believe HMI can become the locomotive of the nation's progress and be more active in preparing, producing superior human resources, producing and producing future leaders who will lead this nation to be ready to compete in the current era and to progress to be winners and be sure that the efforts will arrive," he concluded.
