JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin underwent a second dose of COVID-19 vaccination on Wednesday, March 17 at the official residence, Jakarta. In vaccination, Vice President Ma'ruf was accompanied by the Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin.
After being injected with the vaccine, Ma'ruf appealed to the public to continue to apply health protocols and comply with the prevailing regulations on the Enforcement of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM).
"Even though you have been vaccinated twice, you still have to maintain health protocols, wear masks, wash your hands, keep your distance and also comply with PPKM regulations. Even though they have been vaccinated, there are still people who can get infected", he said in Jakarta, Wednesday.
On that occasion, he also invited all elderly people not to refuse vaccines and immediately undergo vaccination so that they could protect themselves and the environment from COVID-19.
"Protecting oneself from disease is obligatory in religion. So once again I invite the public, especially those who are elderly, to be vaccinated immediately", he said.
Meanwhile, Minister of Health Budi Sadikin said that his presence accompanied Ma'ruf in the second dose of vaccination to ensure that the COVID-19 vaccine was safe for injection into the elderly group.
"I am here to ensure that our seniors, with the highest positions in this country, are safe. Hopefully, this can give confidence to all of you that this vaccination is safe", said Sadikin.
He also explained that immunity against COVID-19 will only be formed optimally after 28 days after injection of the second dose. This means that after getting the COVID-19 vaccine, the public must still adhere to health protocols.
"We can't suddenly become Superman, where all viruses cannot come to us, including COVID-19. So my message is, if you get the injection, don't go anywhere without wearing a mask. Optimal immunity from our antibodies on the next day. -28 after the second injection", he said.
The officer who injected the vaccine to Ma'ruf was the same as when he was injecting the first dose, namely Dr. Dwi Edi Wahono, Sp.PD, KGH.
Ma'ruf received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine with his wife, Wury Estu Handayani. The first dose of vaccine has been given to Ma'ruf on February 17, 2021
