Carrying Sohibul Iman In The Jakarta Gubernatorial Election Is Considered A Way To Increase PKS To Bargain Politics

Political observer, Adi Prayitno, read the meaning of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) which raised the name of the Deputy Chairperson of the PKS Syuro Council Mohamad Sohibul Iman as a candidate for Governor of DKI Jakarta.

Adi assessed that the emergence of Sohibul's name was the way PKS raised its bargaining power or political bargain to any political party that wanted to form a coalition.

As the party that received the most votes in the 2024 Legislative Election of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, PKS felt it was time for internal party cadres to become candidates in the Jakarta gubernatorial and deputy governorial elections (Pilgub).

"PKS wants to show anyone, as the winner of the legislative elections in Jakarta, PKS is the deputy legal candidate for their cadres who must be partnered as a companion to be able to advance in the Jakarta regional elections," Adi told reporters, Monday, June 24.

So, if Anies Baswedan wants to be promoted in the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election, PKS demands that the former Governor of DKI Jakarta cooperate with his cadres as a candidate pair.

Likewise, if the Forward Indonesia Coalition (KIM) or the Prabowo Subianto camp wants to find a candidate pair and be interested in forming a coalition with PKS, then Sohibul Iman must be prioritized as a representative.

"So, the political message that PKS wants to convey to the public. That as the winner of the legislative election, PKS does not want to be ronin. PKS does not want to be limited to political firewood. Of course PKS does not want to lose political momentum again," said Adi.

For information, the PKS DPP decision to carry Sohibul Iman in the Jakarta gubernatorial election is a follow-up to the DKI Jakarta PKS DPW proposal that offers a number of candidates.

Apart from Sohibul, DKI Jakarta PKS DPW also proposed the name Anies Baswedan. DPW PKS DKI previously asked Anies to be promoted as a candidate for Governor of DKI Jakarta. However, it turned out that the DPP decided to carry its own cadres.

Meanwhile, PKS DPP spokesman Ahmad Mabruri said that Sohibul was chosen because he was considered the best cadre.

"As the winning party in Jakarta, PKS has decided to fight for its best cadre as a candidate for governor of DKI Jakarta. The candidate we are carrying is Mohamad Sohibul Iman, who currently serves as Deputy Chair of the PKS Syuro Council," said Mabruri.
