JAKARTA - Russia sees an urgent need for security negotiations with the United States, but it must be "comprehensive" and cover Ukraine's problems, the Kremlin said on Friday.

"It is impossible to get rid of individual segments of general complexes of accumulated problems, and we will not do this," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said when asked if Moscow was ready to talk to Washington about the nuclear risk.

"So we are open to dialogue, but for a broad and comprehensive dialogue that covers all dimensions, including the latest dimensions related to the conflict around Ukraine, which is linked to the US's direct involvement in this conflict," Peskov told reporters.

The United States rejects Russia's opinion that by arming Ukraine, the country has become a direct protagonist in a war aimed at creating a devastating "strategic defeat" for Moscow. Uncle Sam's country says every negotiation on war is a Ukraine issue.

Russia's attitude, as outlined by Peskov, is nothing new. However, he told reporters that the list of topics that Russia and the United States need to discuss continues to grow.

"Overall, this dialogue is urgently needed," Peskov said. "This dialogue is needed because the problems continue to accumulate, and there are many issues related to the global security architecture," he continued.

From Washington's point of view, President Putin, who, in the third year of war in Ukraine, added to the list of security concerns.

This week, he visited North Korea with nuclear weapons, signing a joint defense agreement with its leader Kim Jong-un, saying he might supply Russian weapons to North Korea in response to Western Ukraine's weapons.

President Putin also reiterated on Thursday that he was considering reviewing Russia's doctrine of the use of nuclear weapons.

It is known that the last arms control agreement that limits the number of strategic nuclear warheads that Russia and the United States can deploy will end in 2026.
