KLHK Intensifys Supervision Of 230 Pollution Potential Factories In Jabodetabek

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) has increased supervision and enforcement of activities that have the potential to cause air pollution in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek). Currently, 230 companies have been identified as targets for surveillance this year.

The Director General of Law Enforcement (Gakkum) of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Rasio Ridho Sani, explained that the Air Pollution Control Task Force had identified air pollution sources in Jabodetabek after the recent decline in air quality.

"Currently, we have identified 230 locations that contribute to the decline in air quality in Jakarta from industrial activities or businesses," said Ratio Ridho Sani, Thursday, June 20.

During 2024, his party has carried out special supervision of eight companies in Jabodetabek, with three of them having their operational activities stopped by environmental surveillance officers.

In terms of supervision, the Directorate General of Law and Human Rights of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in collaboration with the Directorate General of Environmental Pollution and Damage Control (PPKL) of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, who monitors Jabodetabek air conditions with 15 water quality monitoring systems (AQMS) to identify areas with reduced air quality.

Industry in these areas will be targets for supervision and law enforcement if they are proven to have committed violations related to air pollution control.
