PKS Admits That He Got An Offer From KIM To File A Cawagub, Ridwan Kamil's Companion

PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu admitted that his party received an offer from the political party of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) to propose a candidate for deputy governor (cawagub) accompanying Ridwan Kamil in the upcoming 2024 Jakarta Pilkada.

However, Syaikhu said, PKS was still conducting an in-depth assessment of the offer.

"There is (a proposal to run as a companion to Ridwan Kamil, ed). That's why we are trying, analyzing, we are reviewing which ones will be the most beneficial later, something like that," said Syaikhu in South Jakarta, Tuesday, June 18. When asked if PKS would join the government coalition after the offer, Syaikhu was reluctant to comment much. Because according to him, there has been no offer to enter the elected president government. So far, said Syaikhu, the new KIM political party offered to run as a cawagub to accompany Ridwan Kamil.

"Not yet. The offer (to join the government coalition, ed) has not yet," said Syaikhu.

Previously, the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) planned to propose a candidate for deputy governor (cawagub) if later it officially carries Anies Baswedan in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada. The reason is, as the political party that wins the election in Jakarta, PKS has the right to advance candidates in the upcoming gubernatorial election. "If later the DPP decides, for example, Mr. Anies as the cagub of PKS, and for example he is also nominated by another party, so that he is then named cross-party, then of course it is natural that PKS submits a cawagub from PKS," said Deputy Chairman of the PKS Shura Council, Hidayat Nur Wahid (HNW) in South Jakarta, June 18. Moreover, continued HNW, in the 2017 Pilkada when carrying Anies with Gerindra, his cawagub was not from PKS. Instead, Gerindra instead proposed Sandiaga Uno. "The previous period, PKS has supported Pak Anies cagub, the cawagub is not from PKS. Now it doesn't exist anymore?," asked HNW.
