Ambassador Invites Indonesian Citizens In Brunei To Celebrate Eid By Maintaining Harmony

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Achmad Ubaedillah invited all Indonesians in Brunei to interpret Eid al-Adha celebrations by maintaining harmony and closeness among fellow Indonesians.

In addition, in the celebration which began with the Eid prayer 1445 H at the Indonesian Embassy on Monday 17 June and was attended by around a thousand people, Ambassador Achmad Ubaedillah also reminded the Indonesian people in Brunei to always comply with all local country rules.

"I always convey this so that the Indonesian people in Brunei always follow the rules of the Brunei government. If there are things that are not understood about local regulations, please consult directly with the Indonesian Embassy," said Ubaedillah as quoted by the press statement of the Indonesian Embassy in Brunei received by ANTARA in Jakarta, Tuesday.. Meanwhile, the Eid al-Adha sermon was conveyed by an Islamic education lecturer at the University of Brunei Darussalam (UBD) from Indonesia, Gamal Abd Nasir bin Zakaria. "The purpose of performing sacrificial worship teaches us to be patient and tawakal because of something that we value the most if asked by Allah it becomes meaningless," Gamal added. After performing congregational prayers, the Indonesian Embassy in the Begawan Series Bandar held a halal bihalal, friendly events, and shared meals. According to the press statement, the event was used by Indonesians in Brunei as an event to gather and strengthen friendship between Indonesian citizens as well as cure the longing for the hometown.

After that, Ambassador Ubaedillah and Mrs. Siti Rif'ah rushed to fulfill Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah's invitation to stay in touch at the Nurul Iman Palace with other honorary guests from Brunei and representatives of foreign countries in Brunei. Like Indonesia, the Brunei Government also set 10 Dzulhijjah 1445H on June 17, 2024.

This determination is in accordance with the results of the rukyah which were ratified by Chief Justice Syarie and witnessed by the Royal Mufti and officials at the Sharia Court, State Judiciary Position, Royal Mufti, Ministry of Religion and the Ministry of Development, after observing the hilal in four locations in the Brunei area.
