KPPPA Appreciates The Quick Economy Of Bareskrim Reveals Child Kidnappers With Dating Mode Via Social Media

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection appreciates the quick work of Bareskrim Polri who succeeded in arresting child kidnappers by dating via social media.

"We appreciate the Police for arresting child kidnappers through the dating mode in FB (Facebook)," said Deputy for Child Special Protection at the Ministry of PPPA, Nahar, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, June 18.

Nahar said that since the victim's child with the initials I (15) was reported missing, KemenPPPA immediately coordinated with related parties and participated in the search.

In this case, it is suspected that there was sexual violence against the victim.

"It is suspected that in order to be free from legal entanglement, the victim is forced to marry perpetrator AR. Forcing marriage in Article 10 of Law Number 12 of 2022 is a criminal act of coercion of marriage, and as a result of this act there is a intercourse between the perpetrator and the victim who is still a child, then Article 76D in conjunction with Article 81 of Law Number 17 of 2016," he said.

He hopes that law enforcement officials can apply layered criminal sanctions against suspect AR (26) as stated in the Child Protection Law and the Law on the Crime of Sexual Violence.

"Hopefully the police can apply layered criminal sanctions related to escaping children, kidnapping, and sexual intercourse as regulated in Law Number 17 of 2016 concerning the second amendment to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection, as well as coercion of marriage as regulated in Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Criminal Acts of Sexual Violence," he said.

Previously, a girl with the initials I (15) left her house in Karawang Regency, West Java, on May 25, 2024.

The victim's child is suspected of running away with AR (26), a man from Rangkas Bitung, Banten, who is known to the victim through social media Facebook.

The victim's family reported this case to the Ministry of PPPA on May 29, 2024.

After going through the search process, the Cyber Bareskrim Polri team finally managed to find victim I on June 15, 2024. Meanwhile, the perpetrator AR has been arrested and named a suspect.
