Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi targets that Nusantara Airport Airport Airport can be used to receive VIP and state guests at the Independence Day Ceremony of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, 2024 in the capital city of the archipelago (IKN).

"Indeed, the celebration of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17 which is the leading sector is the Head of the Presidential Secretariat (Kasetpres). We were specifically assigned to prepare for the IKN airport, whose name has now been designated as Nusantara Airport," said the Minister of Transportation in Tuntang, Semarang, Central Java Sunday, June 16.

According to him, the Ministry of Transportation's task is to complete the Nusantara Airport in August so that VIP and state guests who come to IKN by plane can directly land at the airport. He added that the travel time from Nusantara Airport to the Central Core Area or KIPP IKN is only about 20 minutes.

"We will use the airport, the President of the Republic of Indonesia has also conveyed, of course, apart from ministers, we will invite all ambassadors of friendly countries who will fly from Jakarta to IKN," he said.

The progress of Nusantara Airport development in IKN is currently around 50 percent, the development faces a challenge, namely excessive rain.

"Since two days ago we have been conducting weather conditioning with weather modification technology (TMC), and yesterday I received a good report so that the acceleration of development can be done better," said Budi Karya Sumadi as quoted by Antara.

The Ministry of Transportation revealed that the construction of the Nusantara State Capital Airport (IKN) is still in accordance with the plan and is being carried out well.

The Minister of Transportation is optimistic that with the progress of the IKN Airport construction that goes well and according to plan, it can be tested in July 2024.

IKN Airport has a terminal area of 7,350 m2 and an airport area of 347 ha. The concept of airport terminal design will combine elements of local wisdom that highlight Kalimantan culture and are environmentally friendly.

With a runway of 3,000 meters and a width of 45 meters, IKN Airport can be accommodated by large-body aircraft, such as the Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A380.
