Inflation Control In East Java Meets 2.82 Percent Target

"Inflation control in the East Java region (East Java) meets the specified target of 2.82 percent", this was revealed by the Acting Governor of East Java, Adhy Karyono.

"The Regional Inflation Control Team or East Java TPID has succeeded in maintaining food stability and prices in the year on year calculation range of 2.82 percent," he said in a written statement received in Surabaya, reported by ANTARA, Saturday, June 15.

According to him, inflation in controlled East Java shows that the strategies applied to maintain food price stability have been on the track and are running very well.

Adhy underlined President Joko Widodo's message regarding the importance of taking anticipatory steps during the long dry season.

"The productivity of the national food-supporting region must be maintained. Even if it can increase the yield of food ingredients that are multiplied," he said.

He revealed that East Java has a very large land and produces several commodities with surplus value.

One of the main things is rice. However, Adhy ensured, although confident that it would remain a surplus this year, the East Java Provincial Government has also taken anticipatory steps to deal with the long dry season.

"The threat of the dry season includes the potential for stock reduction due to decreased productivity. Therefore, we must anticipate that productivity will be maintained and if it can be increased," he said.

Moreover, the central government has provided a number of assistance. Among them are 6 thousand water pumps for the agricultural sector in East Java.

With the help of pumps from the central government, the harvest period can be increased from the original one to two to three times a year.

"If the harvest is abundant, it can maintain stability in inflation and people's purchasing power well. In addition, it is able to prevent crop failure in the dry season so that the needs and availability of supplies that have been supplied by East Java to 20 provinces can be met," he concluded.
