Hajj Pilgrims Are Asked To Avoid Exposure To The Sun Directly At 12 - 3 Pm, Here's The Reason

JAKARTA - Saudi Arabia's National Meteorological Center (NCM) issued an appeal to pilgrims to avoid direct sunlight, especially during peak hours during the day (12.00 p.m.) until 3 p.m.

In addition, pilgrims are advised to stay indoors in the building in the event of strong winds, rain, or uncertain weather conditions.

NCM, on Friday, June 14, has advised the pilgrims to follow up on developments in weather conditions when they want to carry out the pilgrimage and follow related instructions.

Hajj is one of five Islamic obligations. Muslims, who are physically and financially able to finance the pilgrimage, must fulfill it at least once in a lifetime.

Hot to very hot weather is expected to occur during the Hajj season with temperatures estimated to range from 45 to 48 degrees Celsius in the holy cities of Makkah and Medina.

Saudi authorities have been trying to reduce the impact of the hot heat by cooling the streets, pedestrian paths, and installing fans and umbrellas in places where the congregation is located.

More than 1.5 million Muslims from around the world have arrived in Saudi Arabia ahead of this 2024 pilgrimage.

More people are expected to gather in Saudi Arabia in the next few hours to undergo annual worship amid relentless efforts from the authorities there to allow pilgrims to worship easily and comfortably.

Saudi health authorities have deployed thousands of medical professionals to serve the congregation. The Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia has placed more than 32,000 medical and administrative personnel in health facilities including mobile clinics in Makkah and Medina as well as other holy places to provide different medical services for the congregation.

The professionals consist of more than 5,000 doctors in various specialties who offer emergency care at all times and rapid response assistance in 183 complete health care facilities consisting of intensive care units and sun shock care.
