PAN Expert Council: Ahmad Luthfi Can't Advance Central Java Cagub If He Becomes Inspector General Of The Ministry Of Trade

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Expert Council of the National Mandate Party (PAN), Drajad Wibowo, confirmed PAN's plan to nominate Central Java Police Chief Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi as a candidate for governor in the 2024 Central Java Pilkada.

According to Drajad, the PAN plan to carry Ahmad Luthfi in the Central Java Pilub was conveyed by PAN Chairman Zulkifli Hasan during the Central Java PAN Coordination Meeting in Semarang, last weekend.

"Indeed, Ketum Bang Zul once mentioned Luthfi's name for the Central Java gubernatorial election. But there is also news that Luthfi will be used as Inspector General of the Ministry of Trade, which means that ASN or TNI/Polri must be active," said Drajad Wibowo, Thursday, June 13.

According to Drajat, if Luthfi, who was still an active member of the National Police and was appointed as Inspector General at the Ministry of Trade, would become an ASN.

"If this happens, of course you can't go forward to become a Cagub. I don't know which one will happen," he continued.

Drajat said that the electability of a number of names for candidates in the Central Java gubernatorial election is still dynamic and there are no dominant candidates. Because all of them still have the opportunity to win the election.

"Therefore, for now, Mas Dar (Sudaryono), Gus Yusuf, Mas Dico, and maybe also read other governors, I think they still have a balanced opportunity in Central Java. We'll see developments until the end of July 2024," he said.

Previously, PAN Chairman Zulkifli Hasan asked the party's regional leadership council (DPW) to carry Ahmad Luthfi as a candidate for Governor of Central Java in the 2024 Pilkada.

"I ask for Central Java, Mr. Luthfi will later be brought to the working meeting," said Zulkifli after the Central Java PAN Regional Coordination Meeting in Semarang, Saturday (8/6).

In addition, Zulhas, who is also the Minister of Trade, said that Luthfi is also in the process of serving as Inspector General of the Ministry of Trade.

Meanwhile, University of Indonesia political science observer Cecep Hidayat said Central Java Police Chief Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi must be firm in choosing to become a candidate for Governor of Central Java or Inspector General of the Ministry of Trade (Inspector General of the Ministry of Trade)/

"What is his target that he wants to target until October? Become an Inspector General of the Ministry or become a legislative candidate? He must be firm in conveying it at the beginning, so that people also know which one is in the reserve position. Don't let it be like that," he said, quoted by Antara, Tuesday.
