JAKARTA - Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said on Tuesday he was still recovering both physically and mentally from attacks in downtown Copenhagen last week, warning of more aggression in public.
A 39-year-old Polish man was detained on an attack that left PM Frederiksen with a minor neck injury.
"I'm not myself yet," Frederiksen said in an interview with broadcaster DR.
The perpetrators of the attack were under the influence of alcohol and drugs at the time, none of which showed any political motives, authorities said.
The attack comes just three weeks after Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico was seriously injured in an assassination attempt.
"I take care of my job as prime minister, and I will always do it. I can also do it over the weekend, but not in the same way I do," continued PM Frederiksen.
PM Frederiksen further said he had witnessed a shift in the public sphere in recent years.
"We all experience throughout the (political) party that the boundaries change wildly," he said.
"There have been threats over a long period of time, very harsh tones on social media, which are getting worse, and especially after the war in the Middle East, many screams in public, people are behaving very, very aggressively," said PM Frederiksen.
