DENPASAR - Bali Regional Police (Polda) said the LPG gas warehouse (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) that caught fire on Cargo II Street, Ubung Kaja Village, North Denpasar which occurred on Sunday (09/06/2024) was raided by the police for allegedly mixing gas.

"The location was raided by the Bali Police for about two years ago. The incident is still being investigated again," said Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, Kombes Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, Tuesday, June 11.

Jansen said that currently his party is still investigating the alleged mixing of LPG gas (LPG). This was in the aftermath of an official statement from PT. Pertamina Patra Niaga which stated that the warehouse was not included in the official agent for distribution and the findings of many LPG gas cylinders at the scene.

The Bali Police Forensic Laboratory Team and Denpasar Police are still conducting an initial investigation to reveal the cause of the LPG's warehouse fire.

In addition to investigating the cause of the LPG gas warehouse fire, the Bali Police are also investigating the negligence of the warehouse owner, causing a large number of fires and gas explosions.

According to Jansen, the warehouse under the auspices of CV Bintang Bagus Perkasa has a business license. However, Jansen did not explain in detail the permit owned by the mentioned CV whether the permit to become an agent for LPG gas distribution or for other purposes.

"The CV Bintang Bagus Perkasa has a permit and is being investigated. So we have to separate the permit from the incident," he said.

Jansen said there was no connection between the business license owned by the warehouse owner, in this case CV. Bintang Bagus Perkasa and the warehouse fire incident.

"If the permit has nothing to do with the incident. So we have to investigate the incident at this time, which will determine whether there is an element of negligence or others, but we will see if there is an element of negligence or intentional," he said.

Previously, the LPG gas warehouse on Cargo II Street, Banjar Uma Sari, Ubung Kaja Village, North Denpasar, Denpasar City, reportedly caught fire on Sunday (9/6) at around 06.10 WITA.

The Bali Police said there were at least 18 victims as a result of the explosion. The 18 people on average suffered serious burns. One person was declared dead.
