The Directorate General Of PAS Ensures That Rizieq Shihab Is Purely Free Today

The Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjen PAS) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) confirmed that Muhammad Rizieq Shihab was purely free today.

Chairman of the Public Relations Working Group of the Directorate General of PAS, Deddy Eduar Eka Saputra, said that the guidance period for Rizieq Shihab ended because he had finished serving a social guidance period based on the court's decision or the minister's decision and the head of the institution.

"The guidance period ends on June 10, 2024 and receives a letter of termination of guidance signed by the Head of the Central Jakarta Class I Correctional Service (Balai Pemasyarakatan)," said Deddy, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, June 10.

Deddy said Rizieq Shihab had carried out the guidance in an orderly manner at the Class I Fathers of Central Jakarta, after previously being released and leaving the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police on July 20, 2022.

"During his guidance at the Class I Fathers of Central Jakarta, the person concerned carried out in an orderly manner according to the mentoring schedule by the Central Jakarta Class I Correctional Guidelines," he said.

Rizieq Shihab's legal adviser, Aziz Yanuar also confirmed that his client had finished undergoing all stages of his conditional release.

Rizieq's release, he said, was stated in the Decree of the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia Number: PAS-1508.PK. 05.09 of 2022 concerning Conditional Release and Minutes of Delivery of Conditional Release Prisoners to the Central Jakarta Fathers No. W10.PAS.PAS10.PK.05.09.3824 dated July 20, 2022.

"Our client today, Monday, June 10, 2024 has finished undergoing all stages of the series of parole periods as stipulated in the legislation regarding the criminalization case that befell him," he said.

Aziz said that with the release of Rizieq Shihab, his client was no longer bound by the provisions of the inmates of the Central Jakarta Fathers who had been carried out by the person concerned for the last two years.

"We would like to thank all those who have helped, supported and prayed for him during the parole," said Aziz.

Rizieq Shihab was sentenced to four years in prison by the East Jakarta District Court for a swab test at the Bogor Ummi Hospital in June 2021. Meanwhile, in November 2021, the Supreme Court reduced Rizieq Shihab's detention period to two years in prison.

The former head of the organization that was banned by the government, namely the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) was also sentenced to eight months in prison for violating the COVID-19 prevention health quarantine in two locations, namely Petamburan, Central Jakarta and Megamendung, Bogor Regency.

Then, Rizieq received Conditional Release on July 20, 2022, with details of the date of detention on December 12, 2020, the end of June 10, 2023, and the end of the trial period on June 10, 2024.
