BNPT Set 5 Special Locations For Counterterrorism In West Java

JAKARTA - The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) has set five special locations for the synergy of counter-terrorism in West Java in 2024 in line with the potential for intolerance and provocation that often occurs in the province.

Head of the BNPT RI Synergy Task Force Administration Eddy Purwanto at the Coordination Meeting of the West Java Region Inter-K/L Synergy Task Force, revealed special locations for synergy targets in the West Java region, namely Bekasi Regency, Garut Regency, Tasikmalaya Regency, Ciamis Regency, and Depok City.

"The input and evaluation of the ongoing program of members of the task force spread across West Java is important, especially the head of the police from five regencies/cities that are special targets," said Eddy as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, June 8.

Meanwhile, Assistant Regional III for General Administration of the West Java Provincial Government as well as Daily Executive (Plh.) Head of the West Java Region Synergy Task Force, Hening Widyatmoko, assessed that West Java really needs the presence of a synergy team to anticipate potential intolerance and provocations that often occur.

"Regarding the potential threat of terrorism, West Java has two things that must be anticipated, namely intolerance and provocation and the 2024 Pilkada which will soon be implemented," said Hening on that occasion.

He argues that strengthening West Java's security must be carried out by collaborating together from all parties involved.

"The task of the synergy task force is to prevent it through intervention with the principle of soft approach to the targets," said Shobirin.

The Inter-Ministry/Institutional Synergy Team in Counterterrorism has been formed since 2018 to take part in reducing the level of spread of intolerant radicalism. Currently, 48 ministries/agencies have participated in the team.
