As KPK Spokesperson, Tessa Mahardika Has A Wealth Of IDR 1.1 Billion

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) appointed Tessa Mahardika Sugiarto as spokesperson to replace Ali Fikri, who is the Head of the KPK News Section. The former investigator turned out to have assets of Rp. 1.1 billion.

Quoted from the state administrator's wealth report (LHKPN), the total assets reached Rp1,193,152,125 or Rp1.1 billion. He conveyed it to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on February 22.

In the LHKPN, Tessa reported ownership of a plot of land and buildings located in South Tangerang. The asset, which is the result itself, is worth IDR 1.1 billion.

Then, the KPK investigators also have two motorized vehicles. The details, one Hyundai H-1 car in 2018 worth IDR 500 million, and one Honda Vario motorbike in 2017 for IDR 17 million.

Tessa also reported other movable assets worth IDR 100 million, as well as cash and cash equivalents of IDR 446 million. Then, he has other assets of IDR 500 million and does not have securities. However, he has a debt of IDR 1,024,293,875.

As previously reported, the KPK appointed Tessa Mahardika Sugiarto, a former investigator as a spokesman for the institution. KPK's interim chairman Nawawi Pomolango said this appointment was a form of refreshment and provided opportunities for employees who had the ability.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Johanis Tanak claimed that the appointment was in accordance with the rules. There is an internal selection carried out.

"Yes (the selection is internal, red). We follow the rules that apply to ASN," Johanis said when confirmed by VOI, Friday, June 7.

Johanis said that currently KPK employees have become state civil servants (ASN) based on Law Number 19 of 2019. Thus, every applicable provision must be followed.

"The selection has been carried out in accordance with applicable regulations for ASN because KPK employees have become ASN since the enactment of Law Number 19 of 2019 concerning amendments to the KPK Law," he said.
