Failed To Escape Parliament, PPP Focuses On Winning The 2024 Pilkada

JAKARTA - The United Development Party (PPP) held the PPP IX National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) after the Constitutional Court (MK) decision which made the Kaaba Party fail to qualify for Parliament. The PPP Rapimnas which was held in Tangerang, Thursday, June 6 yesterday agreed to focus on winning the 2024 Pilkada. The points of the Rapimnas agreement are that the party will focus on optimizing the Simultaneous Pilkada and strengthening party consolidation. PPP Secretary General Arwani Thomafi said the PPP Rapimnas IX was based on the contemplative spirit after the 2024 election as well as building an optimistic narrative in facing the simultaneous regional elections on November 27, 2024. "The spiritual atmosphere that arises from the central, regional and leadership management of the assembly is based on post-election contemplation in 2024 and optimism in welcoming the regional elections simultaneously next November," said Arwani in Jakarta, Friday, June 7. In dealing with the Simultaneous Regional Head Elections, continued Arwani, PPP formed a Selection Team for Regional Head Candidates (SBKD) and the Regional Head Election Campaign Team by involving all party structures from the DPC, DPW to DPP. "The team will map out priority winning areas and which areas are potentially won by internal cadres," said Arwani. Regarding consolidation, Rapimnas IX PPP also agreed to strengthen party internal solidity by maximizing and completing party structure work according to the mandate of AD/ART. Arwani emphasized that the party will maximize coordination and synergy between the DPP management and the leadership of the Party Council. " “ Maximize and complete the work of the party structure in accordance with the periodization of deliberation as stipulated in the provisions of the AD / ART,” explained Arwani. It is known that PPP did not qualify in parliament for the period 2024-2029 after failing to meet the parliamentary threshold of 4 percent. Acting Chairperson of PPP, Muhammad Mardiono, said the Constitutional Court had not fulfilled a sense of justice. Moreover, the lawsuit of the Constitutional Court (MK) stated that it did not accept the request for a dispute over the results of the 2024 Legislative Election (Pileg) proposed by PPP in 19 provinces regarding the application for a dispute over the results of the general election (PHPU) in order to pass within the parliamentary threshold of 4 percent of the national legal vote. Responding to this, the Acting Chairperson of the United Development Party (PPP) Muhammad Mardiono admitted that he was not discouraged. He said he was very optimistic that the party would pass parliament in the period 2024-2029.
