WEST PAPUA - The West Papua High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) has detained BP, a corruption suspect in the construction of the West Papua Provincial Housing Office in the 2017 fiscal year worth IDR 4.326 billion.

Head of West Papua Prosecutor's Office Harli Siregar said the suspect BP acted as the contractor working on the office construction project together with the suspect DAW.

Based on the report on the results of the audit of the West Papua Inspectorate, the implementation of the office construction project was not completed 100 percent which resulted in state financial losses of Rp1,892 billion.

"In fact, the money has been disbursed 100 percent," said Harli in Manokwari, Thursday, June 6 night, which was confiscated by Antara.

After being examined as a witness, he continued, West Papua Prosecutor's Office investigators conducted a case for determining the suspect based on a number of evidences and BP's connection with several convicts including suspects DAW.

The suspect BP is being held at the Class II B Manokwari Penitentiary for the next 20 days starting from June 6, 2024 for the sake of investigating this case.

"The BP suspect is the son of the suspect DAW who has been previously detained," said Harli.

Harli Siregar explained that BP and DW used someone else's company, PT Trimese Perkasa to win the auction. In the process, the two suspects collaborated with the convict Marinus Bonepai as Director of CV Maskam Jaya.

The convicts in this case have received the decision of the Corruption Court at the Manokwari District Court, namely Hendry W. Kolondam as the power user of the budget (KPA), and Martha Heipon as the technical implementing officer of the activity (PPTK).

Next up are Herman Remetwa, Issa Agung, Christya Wibawa, and Robert Mangarouw as the auction committee for the West Papua Housing Office construction project, including Marinus Bonepai as Director of CV Maskam Jaya.
