Vice President Asks Law Enforcement In Papua Not To Violate Human Rights

SORONG - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin asked law enforcement in Papua not to injure human rights (HAM).

"In the future, there should be a avoidance of human rights abuse. So, if those who commit violations, the law is enforced like that," said the Vice President giving a press statement after visiting the Malawei fishing settlement in Sorong City, Southwest Papua, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, June 6.

"So, there should be no unclear things, it must be clear. If he does not violate the law, then no. If he violates the law, it is enforced. So, it is law enforcement," he added.

Ma'ruf Amin asked law enforcement officials to uphold this principle. Therefore, the security side must uphold so that there should be no human rights violations in the future.

The Vice President emphasized that law enforcement is also not indiscriminate. Anyone who violates the law must be dealt with.

"Therefore, if there are security parties who violate it, it is also enforced. So, anyone from the KKB (armed criminal group) who commits violations is enforced. However, if we are internal, someone commits a violation, yes, it is also enforced by law so that there are no more violations of human rights in the future," said the Vice President.

In law enforcement, said the Vice President, the government is serious about protecting the public. Therefore, all relevant parties are encouraged to prevent violations in the implementation of the law in the field.

"The government always protects and protects the community. Preventing human rights violations. Therefore, in dealing with various problems, the steps taken are if there is a violation, law enforcement. There should be no violations," he said.

Regarding the case of human rights violations that previously allegedly occurred in the Papua region, the Vice President emphasized that the settlement should be well through reconciliation.

The vice president also advised that in the future legal and security handling must be carefully analyzed so that the handling can be carried out in accordance with the rules.

"Secondly, we have resolved the past problems, there has been reconciliation to reunite them and for those who must be compensated they already exist, the committee already exists, the rules already exist," said the vice president.
