JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) supports the law that regulates its authority to be revised again. This is because the KPK Law Number 19 of 2019 has weakened their work.

This was conveyed by the Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri in response to the statement by the Chairman of the KPK Supervisory Board, Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean, during a hearing (RDP) with Commission III of the DPR, Wednesday, June 5.

"I think the criticism from the Council was good yesterday, the fact is that it is like that," Ali told reporters at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, June 6.

Ali hopes that the revision of the KPK law can be carried out properly, not just a discourse. Dewas has already said that there are several weaknesses in the duties of the Council itself, its authority and so on," he said.

"I think it would be good if there was a change in the law, including the KPK," continued Ali.

In the meeting, Tumpak Hatorangan said that the absence of the authority of the KPK Council in Law Number 19 of 2019 disrupted their work. One of them is to force the KPK leadership to carry out recommendations for performance evaluation results and the like.

"Wasn't this time conveying the weaknesses of this law? Frankly, sir. I convey. I personally convey: there are many weaknesses of this law, sir," said Tumpak in a hearing with Commission III of the DPR.

"I'm not saying this law weakens, I've never said it weakens, a lot is crucial from this law, until now," he added.
