India is indeed experiencing a hot summer. Even the temperature in the Indian capital, New Delhi, was recorded at 52.9 degrees Celsius this week.

In Delhi, the strong heat causes wild birds and monkeys to faint or fall ill. Zoos in Delhi rely on pools and sprinklers to suppress the temperature and impact on 1,200 animals.

The Department of Meteorology of India (IMD) said temperatures in northwest and central India are expected to fall, but heat waves in eastern India are likely to continue for the next two days.

The Odisha government has appealed to its citizens, including workers, to move outdoors from 11.00 to 15.00 when the temperature peaks.
