Gerindra Asks The Chairperson Of DKI DPRD To Immediately Discuss Approval Of The Release Of Beer Shares

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta DPRD Gerindra Party Faction member Syarif asked DKI DPRD Chairman Prasetyo Edi Marsudi to immediately discuss the proposal of DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to divest beer shares of PT Delta Djakarta Tbk.

This is because a number of party factions have spoken out in support of the release of beer shares, which amount to 26.25 percent. However, these votes were conveyed outside of an official meeting.

"We have asked the DPRD Chairperson. Please have the political rights of each faction to object in the official forum, not outside. Cook, the welcome is outside, not at the plenary meeting," Syarif told reporters, Friday, March 12.

Syarif emphasized that his party supports Anies' proposal regarding the release of the shares of the Anker and San Miguel beer brands. This is because Gerindra has carried Anies from the start from the 2017 DKI Pilgub campaign.

"Gerindra, right from the start, was with Pak Anies and Pak Sandi. One of the campaign promises to the public was to release PT Delta shares. So Gerindra's stance is clearly firm in releasing the shares because of a campaign promise," he said.

Chairman of DPRD versus 5 party factions

Jakarta DPRD Chairman Prasetyo Edi Marsudi is reluctant to approve the proposal to release beer shares. He needed a rational reason in giving permission to release shares of the liquor production company PT Delta.

According to Prasetyo, there will be no financial loss if the DKI Pemprov owns shares in PT Delta. In fact, DKI has received income from share ownership gains received since the days of DKI Governor Ali Sadikin.

"The report I received from PT Delta has contributed dividends to the Regional Wealth Management component which is separated in the 2019 Regional Budget for DKI Jakarta amounting to IDR100.4 billion. This position is the second largest contributor to dividends to DKI Jakarta after PT Bank DKI amounting to IDR240 billion," Prasetyo.

He also asked Anies to provide an explanation regarding the impact of the release of the beer shares. "An analysis is needed from a comprehensive study of the divestment plan of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's ownership in PT Delta Djakarta TBK," he continued.

Prasetyo's attitude was opposed by five party factions. The five factions are PAN, PKS, Golkar, Gerindra, and PKB-PPP.

The head of the Golkar faction at the DPRD DKI Basri Baco insinuated Prasetyo as its leader in the Kebon Sirih parliament. According to Baco, Prasetyo should not make his personal opinion into the DPRD decision.

"This DPRD does not belong to the leadership of the council but belongs to all council members in DKI Jakarta. If there are parties or leaders who refuse to sell (beer shares) privately, they have no right to refuse," said Baco on Wednesday, March 10.

Then, member of the PKS DPRD DKI Faction Abdul Aziz emphasized that Anies was better off selling the share ownership of PT Delta's beer. DPRD, he said, must have solidarity to be able to sell the shares.

"There should be no claim from a person or groups of people acting on their behalf as the board to make decisions personally. This is against the rules," said Aziz.
