JAKARTA - The results of the latest survey by the Indonesian Voters Institute (LPI) show that the majority of the public considers the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to be the right figure to serve as Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Council or Wantimpres President Prabowo.

From the survey results, as many as 80.05 percent of respondents agreed that Jokowi would become chairman of Wantimpres.

The Director of LPI, Boni Hargens, said that respondents' perceptions and beliefs towards Jokowi were relevant to the role of Wantimpres as a strategic institution that supports the government's agenda as well as responding to complex challenges.

"Based on the findings of surveys of colleagues at the LPI, it turns out that 80 percent of respondents believe that Pak Jokowi is very appropriate to lead the Wantimpres as a strategic council which has a significant impact on the ideas and policies of the president as the head of state and head of government," said Boni Hargens in his statement, Tuesday, March 11.

"In my opinion, the assessment was due to Pak Jokowi's success in running the government for two terms from 2014 to 2024. The public believes that Pak Jokowi has a rich and reliable experience in managing the government," Boni added.

Boni Hargens said that the closeness of Pak Jokowi and President Prabowo was not only related to the 2024 presidential election, but also because of the common vision and mission in building Indonesia towards the 2045 Golden moment.

"Of course President Prabowo needs consistency in the pace of development, the trajectories of multi-sectoral progress, and strengthening the economic foundation in order to achieve the growth target of 8 percent. Pak Jokowi is the right and reliable figure to become a kind of supreme advisor to the Prabowo-Gibran government," he explained.

Boni added that in the findings of the LPI survey in February, the public believed that the solid government and the role of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka were very strategic to assist President Prabowo's performance.

"LPI considers the findings of the March 2025 survey to be a positive opportunity for the government if this result can be taken into consideration in decision making. By becoming the supreme advisor, Pak Jokowi's potential can be used to help accelerate and strengthen the current government's performance," explained Boni Hargens.

Boni said that the LPI survey this time was aimed at exploring the assessment or photographing the public's views on the functions, positions, and roles of the Presidential Advisory Council as state institutions regulated through Law Number 19 of 2006 as amended into Law Number 64 of 2024 concerning the Presidential Advisory Council.

From the survey results, as many as 80.05 percent of respondents considered Jokowi to be the right person to be the Chair of Wantimpres. Other figures mentioned in this survey were Wiranto with 4.41 percent, KH Said Aqil Siradj 4.32 percent, KH Ma'ruf Amin 3.37 percent, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono 3.27 percent, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan 2.55 percent, and respondents who did not know or did not answer as much as 2.03 percent.

This survey was conducted on March 1-7, 2025 in 25 provinces in Indonesia. The survey methods used are face-to-face interviews and online interviews.

The number of respondents was 1,200 people using multistage sampling, namely a combination of simple random sampling and cluster sampling. The margin of error in this survey is around 2.83 percent at a 95 percent confidence level.
