TANJUNGPINANG - The Special Criminal Investigation Team (Pidsus) of the Lingga District Attorney's Office, Riau Islands Province (Kepri) has named two suspects in the alleged corruption case of grant funds from the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Lingga Regency.

"The two suspects have the initials Ag as the Chairman of KONI and Rs as the Daily Chair of KONI Lingga Regency. The determination of the two is based on the results of the examination in the form of witness statements and evidence," said Head of the Special Investigation Section of the Lingga Senopati Kejari, reported by ANTARA, Thursday, May 30.

Furthermore, he said, the two suspects were immediately detained for the next 20 days to undergo further legal proceedings.

Senopati explained that the investigation process related to this case is still ongoing. Until now, his party has examined 52 witnesses and obtained 174 pieces of evidence.

"The results of witness examination and electronic data on photos and videos of proof of spending in the form of receipts or proof of payment by KONI Lingga to third parties show that there is a discrepancy with the proof of payment used as SPJ reports by KONI to the Lingga Regency Government," said Senopati.

The Lingga Kejari Special Criminal Investigation Team has also traveled to Jakarta and Bandung to obtain information from third parties involved in this case.

"The results of the BAP for electronic purchase stores obtained turned out to be proof that the payment or receipt made by KONI for reporting the use of grant funds to the Lingga Regency Government was fake or had been falsified," he said.

Senopati explained that based on a temporary calculation, state losses in this case reached Rp546 million out of the total grant funds received by KONI Lingga for two years (2021-2022), which amounted to Rp1.5 billion.

The audit process by the Riau Islands BPKP is still ongoing to ensure a more accurate amount of state losses.

"We will reveal this evidence in the facts of the trial later," he asserted.
