Democrat 'Welcome' Budisatrio Maju Cagub Jakarta, Cawagubnya Bukan Kaesang

JAKARTA - The Democratic Party responded to rumors of the nomination of Deputy Gerindra Deputy Budisatrio Djiwandono and PSI General Chair Kaesang Pangarep for the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada.

Democrats welcome it with open arms if Budisatrio wants to run as a candidate for governor of Jakarta.

"For anyone, we open it. Mas Budi, we welcome it," said Chairman of the Democratic BPOKK Herman Khaeron, Thursday, May 30.

Herman assessed that Budisatrio's name has the potential to be promoted as a cagub in the upcoming Jakarta Pilkada. However, for his deputy, the Democrats are preparing another name to become cawagub.

"Mas Budi has potential, whose partner? I think he has the potential to run in the Jakarta gubernatorial election. Including the Democrats, we are preparing for the cawagub," explained Herman.

"Is the certainty later whose partner will depend on the party. Between the supporting party and the supporting party who is right," he continued.

Even so, the Democrats still opened a selection for Budi and Kaesang if they wanted to register as a cagub pair and their cawagub.

"Everyone has potential, of course, figures, whether senior figures, whether government leaders, young figures, of course all who are appointed to the surface as potential figures to lead DKJ," he said.

"Regarding that name (Budi-Kaesang) may be a candidate promoted by another party. If in the end it is registered with the Democrats, we will wait. Later what decision will the Democrats give," continued Herman.

Herman said, in the next two to three days the Democrats will convey the names that will be carried by the Democrats in the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada.

"Later, there will be cross-party talks for coalition talks as a vehicle to advance in the gubernatorial election. Now, we can only see that," concluded Herman.
