JAKARTA - The Mayor of Medan, Bobby Nasution, distributed 50 laptops and 50 free WiFi in an effort to prevent loss of learning interest at SMPN 5 Medan, SMPN 7 Medan, and SMPN 26 Medan, Friday, March 12.

"Symbolically, I gave this assistance to the students at the Hockey Field at the Medan Flower Garden and on Jalan Pulau Sicanang, Medan Belawan," said Bobby, Friday, March 12.

The giving of laptops and free WiFi is the result of collaboration between the Medan City Government and Indomaret and SGM in channeling CSR funds.

Bobby, who wore a brown batik, hoped that this assistance could make it easier for students to carry out the online teaching and learning process at home.

In addition to assistance, President Joko Widodo's son-in-law said the Medan City Government was also preparing vaccines for teachers and students so that the face-to-face teaching and learning process could be held again soon.

However, said Bobby, if you are able to hold a face-to-face teaching and learning process, in one class the number of students is limited to only 20% to 25%.

"I ordered the younger siblings to remain devoted to their parents because parents' prayers can help us achieve our dreams, aspirations and blessings," said Bobby.

In giving the laptop, as many as ten students symbolically assistance from Pemko Medan.

These students were very happy and thanked the Mayor of Medan for paying attention to them.

"We are very happy to accept laptops, so it will be easier to learn online. Thank you Mr. Guardian, we will use this laptop and modem well for learning," said Aulia Azhura, a student who directly received a laptop and modem from Bobby's hand.

Meanwhile, the Principal of SMPN 5 Medan, Syahbilal also said he was happy and expressed his gratitude to the Mayor. Because he said, students who receive laptops and modems are underprivileged students and they excel in school.

In fact, the COVID-19 pandemic, continued Syahbilal, requires students to study online and there are some students who experience problems due to limited facilities.

"It is very fitting for the program the Mayor of Medan to provide laptops and modems to them. Besides being unable, they are also smart students. Hopefully this facility can be useful for them in participating in online system learning," he said.
