JAKARTA - The Corruption Court (Tipikor) at the Central Jakarta District Court (PN Jakpus) again held a trial in the alleged corruption case of Liquefied Natural (LNG) at PT Pertamina (Persero), Thursday, May 30, 2024.

At this trial, former President Director of PT Pertamina, Karen Agustiawan will hear the demands of the public prosecutor (JPU).

The trial is scheduled to start at 10.00 WIB. The reading of the charges will take place in the Wirjono Prodjodikoro 3 room, Central Jakarta District Court.

Previously, the panel of judges at the Corruption Court rejected the objection note (exception) of the defendant in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of liquefied natural gas (LNG) at Pertamina in 2011-2014 Galaila Karen Kardinah alias Karen Agustiawan.

Chief Justice Maryono mentioned that the various objections of Karen and the legal team were not based on the law so that the defendant had the opportunity to provide evidence in accordance with Article 165 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

"Stating that the objection note from the defendant Karen Agustiawan and from the defendant's legal team was not accepted," said Maryono when reading the interlocutory verdict at the Corruption Court (Tipikor) at the Central Jakarta District Court, Monday.

For this reason, Maryono ordered the public prosecutor to continue examining corruption cases Number 12/Pid.Sus-TPK/2024/PN Jkt.Pst on behalf of Karen Agustiawan based on the public prosecutor's indictment.

President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) for the 2009-2014 period Karen Agustiawan was charged with causing state losses of US$ 113.84 million or equivalent to Rp1.77 trillion due to alleged corruption in the procurement of LNG in Pertamina in 2011-2014.

Karen was charged with committing acts that were regulated and threatened with crime in Article 2 paragraph (1) and Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law (UU) Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
