Initially Offered, SYL's Son Admitted That He Asked For IDR 111 Million For Car Accessories

JAKARTA - The son of former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL, Kemal Redindo alias Dindo, admitted that he had asked the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) for the purchase of car accessories.

This confession began when Chief Justice Rianto Adam Pontoh questioned the hundreds of millions of money. Dindo then said the money was used for official car accessories for Toyota Hilux and Mitsubishi Triton.

"Earlier, a question from Ali Andri, have you also asked for Rp 111 million for car accessories?" asked the judge during a trial at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court, quoted Tuesday, May 28.

"Yes," replied Dindo.

"Mercedes?" asked the judge.

"No, Triton. Between Triton and Hilux because both of the official cars are with me, they are in Makassar," replied Dindo.

"Toyota, huh?" asked the judge.

"Toyota Hilux with Mitsubishi Triton," replied Dido.

However, Dindo emphasized that the money was not on his request. Instead, it was offered by Sukim Supandi, who is the General Head of the Directorate General of Plantation at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan).

So, with the offer, Dindo also followed up by questioning whether or not he could help with the car accessories.

"Is it true that you asked through Ali Andri?" asked the judge.

"Yes, so your Honor's permission said that when Sukim visited Makassar he asked, 'Can someone be helped?' I said, 'Can this be helped, Mr. Sukim?'," replied Dindo.

"So usually people from the Ministry offer to serve the Minister and his family?" asked the judge.

"Yes, that's right, Your Honor," replied Dindo.

"So you accept that, right?" asked the judge.

"Yes. So at that time in 2023 the case had been raised with the KPK, Your Honor, so we no longer dared to ask for it, because we already felt that which one was wrong. And it was offered at that time, and I saw it like this, 'just give me'. So I said, 'later, through Ali send a notification'. Like that, Your Honor," said Dindo.

Kemal Redindo alias Dindo was presented as a witness in the trial of the alleged extortion and acceptance of gratuities for the defendant Syahrul Yasin Limpo, Muhammad on Monday, May 27.

SYL was charged with extortion and received gratuities totaling Rp44.5 billion in cases of alleged corruption at the Ministry of Agriculture in the period 2020 to 2023.

The extortion was carried out with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture for the 2021 period, Kasdi Subagyono, and the Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Ministry of Agriculture in 2023 Muhammad Hatta, who was also a defendant.

The two of them are coordinators of collecting money from echelon I officials and their staff, including to pay SYL's personal needs.
