JAKARTA - Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares on Monday said it would ask 26 EU member states to provide official support to the International Court (ICJ), taking steps to ensure Israel respects the decisions taken.

"I will ask 26 other partners to express support for the International Court and its decision, and also, if Israel continues to seek to counter the opinion of the Court, we will try to take appropriate steps to enforce the decision," he told reporters in Brussels, Belgium at a joint press conference with his partners from Ireland and Norway.

Last week, the ICJ ordered Israel to halt its military operations in Rafah, in addition to ensuring unobstructed access to the Gaza Strip for missions investigating allegations of genocide, having previously convened for two days to discuss additional interim actions against Israel.

Meanwhile, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said the decision of the International Court was "binding" and must be respected.

"No Israeli hostages will be released if more people now have to take cover in tents," Foreign Minister Baerbock said, referring to Gaza's displaced residents, as well as Israel's ongoing efforts to release the hostages detained by Hamas, quoted from The Times of Israel.

"International humanitarian law applies to all, as well as to Israel's war behavior," he added.
