Anies Is Not Included In The Democratic Radar In The Jakarta Cagub Will

The DPP of the Democratic Party confirmed that Anies Baswedan was not named on the list of figures who are currently being discussed by the party to be champions as a candidate for governor (cagub) in the 2024 Jakarta Regional Head Election (Pilkada).

The Coordinator of the Democratic Party's DPP Spokesperson, Herzaky Mahendra Putra, explained that the party was working on a number of names from both internal and external Democrats.

"For external purposes, we see Budisatrio Djiwandono from Gerindra. He is a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the constituency of East Kalimantan, who successfully led the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team Bravo Team (TKN) during the 2024 presidential election campaign."

"We are also watching Ridwan Kamil from Golkar. Strong in Jakarta, if he wants to move forward here. Then, there is Sudirman Said. He is very competent, leadership, managerial, and technical competencies," Herzaky said on Saturday, May 25, 2024, as reported by Antara.

Meanwhile, when asked about the name Anies Baswedan, the Governor of DKI Jakarta for the 2017 '2022 period, Herzaky confirmed that Anies' name was not included in the Democratic radar.

"Anies, no. It's not on our radar," he said.

Then, from the internal party, Herzaky said there was Iti Octavia Jayabaya (former regent of Lebak), dr. Cellica Nurrachadiana (former regent of Karawang), Ali Muhammad Johan Suharli (member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD), and several other names.

Herzaky explained the party's criteria for working on these names, including figures who really care about the citizens of Jakarta.

"Jakarta is strategic. Jakarta is a barometer of many things, it affects many regions. We want Jakarta leaders to really think about and care about Jakarta residents."

"Focus on managing Jakarta, not just keeping names a public concern, or increasing popularity for 2029," said Herzaky.

Therefore, Herzaky ensured that the party's final decision had gone through a series of assessments and considerations.

"So, in taking every policy, we always think, whether this is the best for the citizens of Jakarta, whether this will increase popularity or get positive sentiment from the public."

"We need leaders who can really provide benefits to the people," said Herzaky.

The relationship between the Democratic Party and Anies Baswedan strained after Anies decided to cooperate with the General Chairperson of the PKB DPP Muhaimin Iskandar in the 2024 presidential election.

Democrats, who at that time championed Anies, withdrew their support and voted for the party to the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka pair.

The 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) is scheduled to take place simultaneously in 545 regions, consisting of 37 provinces, 415 districts, and 93 cities.

The KPU has scheduled a vote for the 2024 Pilkada to take place on November 27, 2024.
