JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said that most provinces in the country still have the potential to experience rain Wednesday, May 22, 2024, including several major cities.

Based on reports, BMKG predicts the potential for heavy rain to occur in a number of locations in Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Riau Islands, Bengkulu, Jambi, South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, Lampung, Banten, West Java, Central Java and East Java.

The potential for heavy rain can also fall in West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Maluku, West Papua and Papua.

Rain with lighter intensity is predicted to flush the areas of DKI Jakarta, West Nusa Tenggara and South Kalimantan.

In particular, big cities that can experience heavy rains include Serang, Gorontalo, Pontianak, Banjarmasin, Samarinda, Bandar Lampung and Padang.

BMKG also warned of the potential for light rain to fall in Bandar Aceh, Bengkulu, Yogyakarta, Bandung, Tarakan, Pangkal Pinang, Tanjung Pinang, Ambon, Ternate, Mataram, Jayapura, Manokwari, Mamuju, Makassar, Kendari, Manado, Palembang and Medan.

For the Jakarta area, light rain can occur during the day in West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, South Jakarta and East Jakarta. Meanwhile, at night it rains with similar intensity, it can also fall in South Jakarta and East Jakarta.

BMKG stated that a number of provinces were categorized as alert to the impact of rain, including floods, namely Aceh, North Sumatra, South Sumatra, Bengkulu, Lampung, and West Java.

Also West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Maluku, West Papua, Central Papua, Papua Mountains and South Papua.
