Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla attended the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) in Bali on Sunday (19/5), wearing a Bomba batik which is a typical Donggala batik motif, one of the districts in Central Sulawesi Province.
Elon Musk was seen wearing a green batik with Bomba motifs. This batik was previously worn by Musk during the B20 Summit in Bali in November 2022.
This batik motif itself has a deep philosophical meaning by symbolizing the strength, courage, and fighting spirit of the people of Donggala Regency.
Siregar assessed that this shows that intellectual property from Central Sulawesi Province has begun to be worldwide and is known in the international arena, especially Bomba batik.
Therefore, he said, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Central Sulawesi will continue to strive to protect local KI in Central Sulawesi, so as not to be hijacked by irresponsible parties.
"We will continue to disseminate and educate the public about the importance of protecting KI and increasing cooperation with various parties to introduce KI Central Sulawesi to the international world," he said again.
He hopes that Elon Musk's appearance using Bomba batik will be a momentum to introduce this typical Donggala batik on the international stage and increase the popularity of the batik.
In addition, he hopes that this momentum can be an opportunity for batik craftsmen in Donggala to increase sales turnover and improve the economy of local craftsmen.
